Gorgeous Geometrics

The festive season is now upon us and with the new year just around the corner are you looking to gather some ideas to update your home? This year we have introduced you to a range of trends including perfect pastels, cosy carpets and natural look carpets and we’d like to see out the year with a bang looking at a trend that has been around for a while and is continuing to grow in popularity - geometrics. Geometric carpets can be bold and exciting but also come in a range of more muted colours. It’s a style of carpet that’s perfect if you want to add a bit more intrigue to your home interior and move away from the plane block colours we see time and time again.

What is a Geometric Carpet?

A geometric carpet is one that features a repeating pattern. They can feature any shape including circles, stripes and hexagons. They also come in a range of sizes, textures and colours - it’s where the popular herringbone carpet trend came from! Done right they can create a modern, contemporary feel in any home and are a firm favourite with interior designers. The size of the carpet print can incorporate delicate, minimalist patterns or larger, bolder linework and they look great in bedrooms, lounges and even hallways.

People tend to shy away from the geometric carpet due to the worry it will clash with current wall colours and decor, but this isn’t always the case! Circular patterns can give off a retro vibe to any room, adding personality in the process, whilst triangles are great in softer colours for bedrooms.

Collections

The Cube Soane Carpet as part of the Quirky B collection by Alternative Flooring is a great choice if you are looking for a quirky, colourful twist on the classic cube pattern. From British designer Ben Pentreath this is a heavy-duty carpet suitable for anywhere in the home! The collection includes a wide variety of other patterns including hexagonal, stripes and honeycombs so there’s plenty to choose from, perfect for both contemporary and traditional settings.

Ulster Carpets also have some fantastic geometric carpets to choose from including the Vescent collection featuring grey tones with hints of colour to the Zen collection for those looking for something a little more striking. If linework patterns are more up your alley then the Boho collection features many beautiful zig-zag patterns in subtle blues, beiges and purples. All of these collections are extremely hard wearing so are suitable for high traffic areas of the home such as lounges and dining rooms.

If you prefer a laminate alternative, Karndean Design Flooring’s Kaleidoscope range has plenty to choose from, with the statement Pyramid pattern and the more versatile Hexa design in a stone effect which looks stunning in a bathroom setting. This carefully crafted luxury LVT and the wood range offers a great way to add impact or visual contrast to your home, whilst being easy to clean and slip-resistant!
