Choosing the Right Carpet by Room

When faced with a showroom filled with different carpet and flooring styles, we know how overwhelming it can be! This often makes it so hard to choose the right carpet and can leave you flustered or panic buying.

Luckily, we’ve created this handy guide to make it easier for you to find your perfect carpet and know what you’re looking for when you come to us. Don’t worry though, our team of experts will always be on hand to help you during a visit to our showroom.

Living Room

The living room is often the hub of activity in a home, while also being the place to wind down and relax so carpets work perfectly as they keep the space warm and they’re soft underfoot! With the high levels of usage and the need for comfort, we’d suggest a hardwearing but cosy carpet, like a wool mix, to create an inviting space.

Dining Room

When it comes to dining rooms, it depends on your usage as to what carpet you should go for. But no matter how regularly you’ll be using the space, we always recommend a stain-resistant carpet to remove the stress of accidental spills. But, if you will be using your dining room regularly with the family in tow, ensure you choose a durable carpet to withstand the wear and tear of daily use. If you’re likely to only use the space for special occasions, why not splash out a little more on a luxurious and high quality wool carpet?

Bedroom

The bedroom is another room of the house where you can opt for that more luxurious option, as this is one of the spots to see the least traffic. And there is nothing like getting out of bed and your feet touching the comfort of luxuriously cosy carpet - with more time spent barefoot in a bedroom you deserve to pay that little bit extra for your carpet to be luxuriously soft rather than resistant and practical.

If you’re looking at kitting out the kids’ rooms with a carpet, maybe opt for a slightly ‘easier-to-clean’ and stain resistant option to avoid felt-tip stains and the like!

Bathroom

Carpets aren’t an obvious choice for the bathroom as, like the kitchen, the space is an area prone to staining due to the damp conditions. When choosing a carpet for the bathroom, keep an eye out for specialist carpets with a waterproof backing to get the most out of your money and tick the durable and resistant boxes.

Hall and Stairs

You may not think it, but halls, stairs and landing often take the most wear and tear out of all the space in the house! You don’t need to worry too much about stain resistance for this space, but we do suggest looking for a hardwearing design for these areas to ensure they bear up against all those footsteps. It’s also the first thing people see in many homes, so it’s a place where you can create a striking first impression - why not try a bold colour or eye-catching striped design?
